2. Sugar Cookie Sack
I had some old mattress ticking scraps and it really captured the mood I wanted to reflect in my gift giving this holiday season. I found a pattern for small cloth gift bags, so I could use mattress ticking and I thought, home-baked cookies and the holidays go hand in hand and if you love giving home-baked goodies, why not consider giving the gift that recipients can bake for themselves. I just added the mix and printed the recipe on cardstock DIY gift tags. This handcrafted sugar cookie sack is pretty and super simple to make and you will love this simple DIY craft project. 3. Little Something To Brighten Your Day Office Gift
I love my friends so much and I cannot stand to see them sad. My best friend was feeling particularly down and getting very frustrated. I did not want to just stand by and do nothing, but she’s very headstrong and doesn’t like advice much either. So I decided to make her some little DIY craft cheer up jars full of goodies to place around her home and office to give her that little push of love and confidence to keep going. She later told me it was an essential step in her healing process. These DIY candy jars make everyone feel better.
4. Scrabble Coasters
I have an Aunt who loves Scrabble, she pulls us into a game everytime we visit her. So this Christmas I decided to get her something she really would love and could use during our beloved Scrabble tournaments, as she was always worried her board was going to get wet from condensation. I purchased a pack of Scrabble tiles from Toys R Us and got some cork backing from Michael’s craft store. Using spray adhesive was really quick and east to glue them down, I set the finish with Modpodge and my Aunt went crazy! She is telling everyone her new DIY Scrabble tile coasters are the best gift shes ever had.
5. DIY Vintage Ribbon Camera Strap
Everyone has seen those cute hippy camera straps the cool photographers carried in the 1970s. I wanted to recreate that and found this fantastic idea for a DIY vintage camera strap on Pinterest. You can use any fabric or trim, I found a very colorful embroidered trim on Etsy and I only needed a yard, so I splurged a bit. It is so perfect on my 35mm Nikon camera. I literally get stopped in the street over it.
6. DIY Leather Cord Roll
My Son is an electronics whiz kid and his room is brimming with chords, he really needed to get organized and downsizing the number of chords was not an option. So I thought, how do you keep your cords in order when you travel? If you’re like most, you probably toss them all in a bag, making for one big tangled mess. In the interest of spring cleaning and decluttering our lives, we decided to create our own spin on this clever chord roll recently spotted on Etsy. It’s a bit like sushi… for your cords! 😉
7. DIY Desk Organizer
I love getting organized, sometimes I get so organizationally driven that I organize my organization, at that point, I know I’ve really got things completely under control. 8. DIY Iron Transfer Tote
This morning, I decided to make a DIY craft shopping tote bag as a gift for my daughter’s best friend. This is a simple rectangle pattern that is accented with long straps. The cool thing about this pattern is that you don’t have to line the bag or cover seams with binding! The tutorial is written so that when you are done, your bag will look stunning inside and out without the trouble of adding a lining. This fabric is from Joann’s Fabric Store, where you can always use your app coupons. I found this stone colored canvas fabric that looked awesome. The bag measures about 20″ x 10″ which makes it the perfect size for an overnight stays or shopping. This is an adorable DIY Christmas gift for teens, also a birthday present you can sew. Make a few of these darling DIY tote bags, they are sure to be adored.
9. DIY Gold Foil Painted Pots
These DIY gold leaf handpainted pots are so cute, cheap and easy. I got all my supplies at Michael’s craft store, don’t forget your 40% off coupon available from their app for extra savings. I used 3 coats of Martha Stewart craft paint and used spray on Elmer’s glue to attach my gold leaf. The result was very vibrant and abstract, these are going to be my back up emergency gifts. We all need those over the Christmas season. I made these as Christmas gifts for clients last year, adding succulents to the pot, and people told me how much they loved having these on their desks at work.
